The ASCCC CTE Regional events are intended to provide an opportunity for dialog and community building between CTE liaisons, senate presidents and CTE deans. Topics covered will include round 2 funding and planning for Strong Workforce, the role of CTE liaisons in local governance processes, best practices in advisory committees, and effective practices for planning low unit certificate development.

The Course Identification Numbering System (C-ID) is hosting a Discipline Input Group (DIG) meeting in Northern California this fall. Here is your chance to attend a meeting to explore the possibilities of aligning baccalaureate programs in your discipline. For more information on the C-ID project please visit our website c-id.net. There is no fee to attend and a light breakfast as well as lunch will be provided. Later, faculty will be appointed by their respective state senate to participate on the Faculty Discipline Review Group (FDRG) that will prepare draft documents for statewide vetting. Fall Open Educational Resources (OER) Regional Meeting - SouthMiraCosta College |
The meeting will begin with an overview of the status of OER at our colleges, followed by a panel of OER users. Afternoon sessions will target users of various levels and provide an opportunity for discipline-oriented dialogue.
There is no cost to attend, however registration is requred. Continental breakfast and lunch are provided. Click on the Register link below to register!
ASCCC’s OER Task Force is pleased to announce this regional event intended to update faculty regarding the status of OER in our colleges and to inform faculty at all levels in their OER experience, from the novice seeking to identify OER for their classroom, to the advanced user looking to facilitate OER adoption at the college. The meeting will take place at MiraCosta College. located at 1 Barnard Dr, Oceanside, CA 92056 from 9am - 3pm. For additional information on the agenda, please click on Program. The morning general session will take place in the Cafeteria, Building 3400, the afternoon sessions will take place in Building 3500 which is located one building over from 3400. See map of campus. There are red arrows on the map pointing to these two labeled buildings. The closest parking lots to these buildings have been labeled in red aslo. The campus police will NOT be ticketing that day. Please do NOT park in Staff parking. Please have park in Student or Guest parking. There will be signage on campus pointing attendees in the right direction(s). |

Faculty Leadership Institute will be taking place at the Sacramento Sheraton Grand 1230 J Street, Sacramento, CA. 95814 on June 15 - 17, 2017. The Faculty Leadership Institute is the cornerstone of the Academic Senate’s governance training. Created to assist new senate leaders navigate the complexity of local governance as well as become versed in state issues, the Faculty Leadership Institute brings seasoned leaders together to share tips and tools for new leaders to successfully lead their senate and influence their college policies. We highly encourage new and experienced leadership to join us for lively discussions about basic college governance and exciting state issues. Sponsored by the Chancellor's Office through Doing What Matters for Jobs and the Economy, the Academic Senate will hold a CTE Leadership Institute on May 5-6, 2017, at the San Jose Marriott. This event will provide CTE faculty with the opportunity to engage in key policy conversations through their interaction with representatives of the task force, by learning about the implications of policy decisions on local programs and courses, and in participating in breakout sessions to better understand the college processes including topics on leadership, curriculum design, course repetition, and effective program advocacy. Registration is now open and additional information including hotel, travel, and a preliminary program is posted on our event site. The San Jose Marriott is the host hotel for the CTE Leadership Institute held May 5-6 2017! The San Jose Marriott is located at 301 S Market St, San Jose, CA 95113. Driving directions can be found here. For those flying, the San Jose Airport is located 3 miles from the hotel. Thanks to a grant by the Chancellor's Office Workforce and Economic Development Doing What Matters, the ASCCC is able to offer free registration to ASCCC CTE Liaisons and Counselors and one day hotel stay. Register for the event using the code you received. If you did not receive a code, please send an email to info [at] asccc.org. Then reserve a room via the link under hotel and travel. The hotel will require that you secure the room with a credit card. Once you check into your room, the charges will be moved to our master account.
