Information was circulated to local senate president via the transmission of the Session Resolutions. Information was also included in the Spring Session packet and other materials as appropriate.

Whereas, The Academic Senate for California Community Colleges has an organizational relationship with the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) as stipulated in Resolution 1.02 F99;

Whereas, The Academic Senate has adopted the AAUP 1940 "Statement of Principles on Academic Freedom," as directed by Resolution 19.05 S96;

Whereas, AAUP's Campaign for the Common Good is an appeal for support of vital AAUP efforts and includes multiple funds, one of which is to ensure academic freedom; and

Whereas, The purpose of the Campaign's Academic Freedom Fund is "to establish and maintain academic freedom through research, publication, and assistance to faculties and faculty members in institutions of higher education";

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges disseminate to local senates background materials about the AAUP's Campaign for the Common Good; and

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges encourage local senates to discuss with all their faculty the possibility of contributing-either as a group or individually-to the AAUP's Campaign for the Common Good Academic Freedom Fund.MSC Disposition: Local Senates
