LACCD academic senate, with our support, filed a legal complaint which was upheld by the Chancellor. LACCD Board had now included the senate in these plans.

Whereas the newly elected president of the Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees announced that the Board was going to move forward immediately on plans to re-organize the District, including plans regarding curriculum and hiring, without consulting the academic senates, and

Whereas these kinds of Board actions threaten all senates and their relationship with their respective Boards, and

Whereas the District plans include restructuring curriculum, changing hiring procedures, and changing budget responsibilities,

Resolved that the Academic Senate call on the Board of Trustees of the Los Angeles Community College District to refrain from any unilateral abrogation and disregard of AB 1725 shared governance requirements, Title 5 regulations Strengthening Local Senates, and SB 160 (Rodda, the Collective Bargaining law) by voting to reorganize the District without consultation with the Los Angeles Community College District Academic Senate.
