Whereas the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges desires to fully implement and reinforce its commitment to cultural diversity across the curriculum in order to promote awareness, understanding, appreciation of, and respect for, underrepresented ethnic cultures and nationalities and to help students link their education with broader cultural perspectives,

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges encourage local senates at every community college to establish a policy that each student be required to select from among the courses satisfying the General Education pattern at least one course that has been designated as a multi-cultural course.
