Status Report

The committee believes that the Fall 2000 Faculty Hiring paper with its separate section on achieving diversity achieves the intent of the resolution. A more prescriptive model policy would not be feasible for all 72 districts.
07-08 goal included an examination of the relationship with the following resolutions (S06 19.07 and F07 19.03).

Whereas all districts are responsible for the recruiting and hiring of part-time faculty,

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges urge that local senates develop policies that ensure that whenever the quality of an academic program requires the opening of a part-time faculty position, a pool of qualified candidates be established, and

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges urge local senates to recommend that the college Affirmative Action Committee review the part-time pool to ensure that district hiring policies have been followed, and

Resolved that the Academic Senate direct the Executive Committee to develop a model hiring policy for part-time hiring that promotes affirmative action and staff diversity.
