2024 Spring Area Meetings

- Various Locations

Given the overall success of the Area Meetings during fall 2023, the ASCCC has opted to once again hold the Area Meetings during a single day. The 2024 Spring Area Meetings will be held March 22, 2024.

These meetings are held before the upcoming plenary session to discuss matters of concern to your Area, review proposed resolutions to be voted on at plenary session, and generate new resolutions. The day will start with everyone together for a morning general session that will include the President's Update, Foundation Update, Discipline List process information, and resolutions information along with opportunities to ask questions about each of these topics. Then faculty will convene by areas to continue with review of resolutions and sharing of college updates. To access a list of all colleges by Area, please visit the ASCCC Area Map and College Listing

The ASCCC Executive Committee looks forward to seeing you on March 22nd. We have lots of room online, so please share the invitation to attend with your faculty. See you soon!

2023 Accreditation Institute

-

The ASCCC is proud to host the 2023 Accreditation Institute September 29, 2023. The Institute will provide guidance and support to colleges that are gathering evidence, writing their Institutional Self Evaluation Report (ISER), or preparing for a comprehensive site visit. This year's theme, "Rising up to Meet the New Standards: Continuing the Pursuit of Excellence and Equity," will allow participants to become familiar with the new ACCJC standards while continuing their important work of equity. The Institute will feature a variety of speakers and panelists, including representatives from the ACCJC, as well as experts in accreditation and equity. There will also be opportunities for networking and collaboration.

The ASCCC has made the decision to shift the Accreditation Institute to a fully virtual program taking place on Friday, September 29, 2023. We look forward to seeing you there!

Cancelled 2023 Accreditation Regional Meeting: Accreditation During Changing Times

Los Angeles Southwest College

Note: This event has been cancelled.

Due to low enrollment for the Accreditation, the ASCCC had to make the decision to cancel the event at this time. We wanted to respect the time of all participants, attendees and presenters alike, and did not feel that we would be able to do so with the enrollment numbers we had.

The ASCCC will focus on updating the accreditation paper to address the recently assigned resolution and will continue the conversation at a future event. Additional information will come out in the form of a Rostrum article in April, as well as updates to the paper on Effective Practices in Accreditation

Join us for a dynamic Accreditation Institute in La Jolla, CA on February 21 and 22, 2020.  As all of our colleges navigate the implementation of Guided Pathways, this institute will focus on how the work of Guided Pathways, with a foundation in equity, aligns to the accreditation standards. Guided Pathways and Accreditation both focus on improving systems and systemic assessment. There are significant changes being made at our colleges and at ACCJC that reflect our shared intent to improve our systems.  We encourage ALOs, Accreditation and Guided Pathways leads and interested faculty, staff, administration and students to attend.  Learn about how the outcomes and dialog produced through transformative Guided Pathways work can provide evidence of how colleges are meeting and/or exceeding the standards through evaluating and improving our institutions with a focus on student success.

Higher education is undergoing many changes such as student placement and assessment processes, increased student services, and even consideration of a guided pathways framework. Likewise, accreditation requirements and practices are undergoing significant change. Accreditation is no longer an event that occurs once every six years to prove compliance; it is a process that requires annual consideration and broad participation to ensure that the education and services provided to our students are of high quality and value to the community and public at large. Whether your college is gathering evidence, in the process of writing an Institutional Self Evaluation Report, or preparing for a comprehensive site visit, the Academic Senate for California Community College’s Accreditation Institute will provide guidance and support. Accreditation is an opportunity to share everything that our colleges do well and to identify areas where improvement can be made. This year’s institute, while embracing change, is focused on understanding accreditation so that participants are empowered and energized to take ownership of accreditation. New this year, is a pre-session sponsored by the ACCJC. There will be two trainings: one, a new evaluator training for faculty and the other, new Accreditation Liaison Officer Training.
