Plenary graphic photo by Dr. Rachel N. Hastings, MiraCosta College: 20 in 20 is both an act of remembrance and an act of systemic resistance. It is a visual reminder of the weight of anti-Blackness and systemic racism that we are carrying into our futures. I lift these names up and call upon you to join me in developing systemic strategies of resistance. In remembering. In re-writing the narrative for Black people in America. In re-designing the structures that stunt our human relations. We must re-imagine the possibilities. We must continue to #SayTheirNames. THEME: Addressing Anti-Blackness & IDEAs (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Anti-Racism) in Academic and Professional Matters The ASCCC Fall 2020 Plenary Session will be held November 5-7, 2020. ***Dates Subject to Change*** The event will take place in the virtual event platform Pathable. Cancelled - 2020 Spring Plenary SessionOakland Marriott City Center |
March 17, 2020 Dear Colleagues, In an attempt to flatten the curve of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Governor Newsom ordered statewide cancellations of events of more than 250 people, and the CDC released additional guidelines suggesting that gatherings larger than 50 people be cancelled. The Academic Senate for California Community Colleges is heeding the guidance and have decided to postpone the Area Meetings and Spring Plenary Session until further notice. The health and wellbeing of our staff, attendees, and community comes first and we understand that many of our colleges and faculty face additional loads, as colleges transition to remote learning or make the difficult decision of closing the campus. The Academic Senate is here to support you during this time. We are currently putting together some resources to distribute to the field to help support the transitions taking place locally. We will be sending out communication regarding our annual spring elections in the near future. If you haven’t already, please contact the Oakland Marriott to ensure your hotel reservation has been cancelled. The Senate Office is taking care of the refunds and will provide a message to all registered attendees on this shortly. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. If you have any questions, please feel free to direct them to me- krystinne@asccc.org. Take care of yourself and take care of each other,
Krystinne Mica |

2016 Curriculum InstituteDoubleTree Hilton - Anaheim |
Curriculum is the heart of what we do as educators. The Curriculum Institute is designed to bring together teams of individuals working on curriculum – administrators, faculty, and classified staff – and to provide a platform for interactive learning by all attendees. Informational presentations, direct training and guidance, and interaction with Chancellor’s Office staff make this Institute the most popular of the Academic Senate events. Join us in Anaheim to receive updates on important current curriculum topic and to learn ways to improve and develop local curriculum processes. Pre-session: The Curriculum Committee is excited to announce that this year’s event will once again include an optional pre-session workshop on Wednesday, July 6. In the afternoon there will be workshops designed for curriculum chairs, administrators, and curriculum specialists who are new to curriculum. The more seasoned curriculum enthusiast may find it beneficial as well. Additionally, there will be a morning workshop on the CTE Data Unlocked Initiative. The Data Unlocked workshop will run from 10:00 to 12:00, and the afternoon workshops for curriculum chairs, administrators, and curriculum specialistswill run from 2:00 to 5:00. The cost of attending the pre-session workshop is included in your registration fee. However, you must submit a separate registration for the pre-session workshop and be a registered attendee for the Curriculum Institute. Notice for CTE Data Unlocked Pre-Session Attendees:
