Given the overall success of the Area Meetings during fall 2023, the ASCCC has opted to once again hold the Area Meetings during a single day. The 2024 Spring Area Meetings will be held March 22, 2024.

These meetings are held before the upcoming plenary session to discuss matters of concern to your Area, review proposed resolutions to be voted on at plenary session, and generate new resolutions. The day will start with everyone together for a morning general session that will include the President's Update, Foundation Update, Discipline List process information, and resolutions information along with opportunities to ask questions about each of these topics. Then faculty will convene by areas to continue with review of resolutions and sharing of college updates. To access a list of all colleges by Area, please visit the ASCCC Area Map and College Listing

The ASCCC Executive Committee looks forward to seeing you on March 22nd. We have lots of room online, so please share the invitation to attend with your faculty. See you soon!

This conference will focus on driving change toward equity and unity, specifically addressing the interaction of theory and praxis that many part-time faculty members find themselves navigating alone. The 2021 conference will boost discussions, voices, and representation of adjunct faculty across the state of California, both seasoned and new, and will specifically highlight contemporary issues and delightful enigmas that adjuncts face as formerly known “freeway flyers.” Part-time faculty bring unique values and perspectives to college campuses, and this year’s institute provides a platform for an intersectional welcoming dialogue for all.

Cancelled - 2020 Career and Noncredit Education Institute

San Mateo Marriott - SF Airport

March 18, 2020

Dear Colleagues,

In an attempt to flatten the curve of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Governor Newsom ordered statewide cancellations of events of more than 250 people, and the CDC released additional guidelines suggesting that gatherings larger than 50 people be cancelled. The Academic Senate for California Community Colleges is heeding the guidance and has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Career and Noncredit Education Institute. The health and wellbeing of our staff, attendees, and community comes first and we understand that many of our colleges and faculty face additional loads, as colleges transition to remote learning or make the difficult decision of closing the campus. The Academic Senate is here to support you during this time. We are currently putting together some resources to distribute to the field to help support the transitions taking place locally.

If you haven’t already, please contact the San Mateo Marriott to ensure your hotel reservation has been cancelled. The Senate Office is taking care of the registration refunds and will connect with all registered attendees on this shortly. **Please do not put a refund request into the Eventbrite system as we can no longer process them this way. We are working with Eventbrite on getting all refunds processed in a timely manner. We ask that you allow at least 30-45 days for refund processing.**

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. If you have any questions, please feel free to direct them to me- krystinne@asccc.org.

Take care of yourself and take care of each other,
Krystinne
