Fall Curriculum Regional - South

Long Beach City College - Pacific Coast Campus

The Curriculum Committee is pleased to announce that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges, in conjunction with the Academic Affairs division of the Chancellor's Office, is once again holding a Curriculum Regional meeting on November 18, 2017 9:00am -3:00pm at Long Beach City College - Pacific Coast Campus (Building QQ) 1305 East Pacific Coast Hwy, Long Beach, CA 90806. See Campus Map.  Free parking has been arranged. Please park in any of the faculty, staff or student lots.  The closest parking areas are Parking lot #7 and Parking lot #10. There will be several signs in place to guide attendees to the QQ building. The meetings will be held in Dyer Hall QQ112, QQ109, QQ202 and QQ203.

The morning will consist of two general sessions. The first general session will include an update on curriculum streamlining, the UCTP pilot program in physics and chemistry, and updates on the current work of the California Community College's Curriculum Committee (5C). The second session will focus on updating colleges about the Chancellor's Office Curriculum Inventory (COCI). Additionally, the afternoon will include two sets of breakout sessions that include information about noncredit curriculum, the impacts of AB 705, ADTs and double counting, and information for new curriculum chairs. We encourage you to bring a team of curriculum chairs, senate presidents, articulation officers, curriculum specialists, and administrators so that your college curriculum team can gather as much information as possible. 

The programs will run 9:45 AM until 3:00 PM.  Registration is required prior to the event and must be completed by November 14, 2017

The meetings will be held in Large Lecture Hall FL3-173, and classrooms: FL1-207 (cap. 56), FL4-132 (cap. 45), and FL4-136 (cap45). See Campus Map. Parking has been arranged for attendees. Civil Discourse and Equity Regional Meeting South

In recent months, discussions regarding civil discourse and equity have become more prevalent on college campuses around the state.  We all are required to have equity plans, but what conversations are taking place around equity on your campus?  Is equity playing a starring role in your discussions, or are there hesitations about engaging in those conversations?  At the fall Civil Discourse and Equity Regionals, the Equity and Diversity Action Committee (EDAC) will be discussing these ideas, as well issues around social justice, equity and curriculum, and equity and student perspective.  Join us for a lively and engaged discussion about the role equity can and does play on campuses! Registration is free, and lunch will be provided.  We hope to see you there.

The Course Identification Numbering System (C-ID) is hosting a Discipline Input Group (DIG) meeting in Northern California this fall.  Here is your chance to attend a meeting to explore the possibilities of aligning baccalaureate programs in your discipline.  For more information on the C-ID project please visit our website c-id.net.

 There is no fee to attend and a light breakfast as well as lunch will be provided.  Later, faculty will be appointed by their respective state senate to participate on the Faculty Discipline Review Group (FDRG) that will prepare draft documents for statewide vetting.

Fall Open Educational Resources (OER) Regional Meeting - South

ASCCC’s OER Task Force is pleased to announce this regional event intended to update faculty regarding the status of OER in our colleges and to inform faculty at all levels in their OER experience, from the novice seeking to identify OER for their classroom, to the advanced user looking to facilitate OER adoption at the college.

The meeting will take place at MiraCosta College. located at 1 Barnard Dr, Oceanside, CA 92056 from 9am - 3pm.  For additional information on the agenda, please click on Program.

The morning general session will take place in the Cafeteria, Building 3400, the afternoon sessions will take place in Building 3500 which is located one building over from 3400. See map of campus. There are red arrows on the map pointing to these two labeled buildings. The closest parking lots to these buildings have been labeled in red aslo. The campus police will NOT be ticketing that day. Please do NOT park in Staff parking. Please have park in Student or Guest parking. There will be signage on campus pointing attendees in the right direction(s).
