EDAC Regional Meeting Announcement

A campus of inclusiveness and diversity. It’s what all community colleges hope to be. However, improving the diversity of our faculty and improving faculty cultural awareness can be challenging. That’s why the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges is excited to bring you a series of meetings to help you meet that goal. This daylong event (one in the north and one in the south) features presenters from the Chancellor’s office and the Association of Chief Human Resources Officers; breakouts on many topics related to encouraging diversity and cultural competency among faculty; and a dynamic presentation from Dr. Veronica Neal, DeAnza College Equity Coordinator. Join us and take away tested and effective strategies for improving your campus efforts to create inclusive spaces for all.

What
The meeting will include an information presentation on EEO Requirements a panel discussion on leading courageous conversations at your campus along with afternoon breakouts.

Who
Local faculty leaders including senate presidents, professional development coordinators, human resources administrators, academic and students services administrators, local equity directors, and others.

Costs and Registration
Free but registration is required.  Continental breakfast and lunch are provided.  To register, please go to http://asccc.org/calendar/list/regional-meetings and select the regional meeting you wish to attend.

CANCELLATIONS
There is no charge to attend the Regional Meeting.  We do require that you cancel your registration if you cannot attend.  Any cancellations submitted after Friday, February 3, 2017, will be assessed a $25 cancellation fee. All no-shows will also be assessed the $25 cancellation fee.  Refunds will not be granted for cancellations after the cancellation date or for no-shows. How can colleges promote cultural competency among faculty, staff, and student when sands begin to shift? What are some strategies to address this goal? In this breakout, presenters will discuss the goals and characteristics of these types of activities and offer examples of strategies you can try locally.
