Whereas new revisions to Title 5 require that each college district have in place a policy that will address academic accommodation for disabled students, and
Whereas academic accommodation for disabled students is clearly an academic and professional matter and is under the authority of local academic senates, and
Whereas faculty involvement in setting these policies and making decisions regarding academic accommodation of disabled students is critical,
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges direct the Executive Committee to encourage local senates, with other campus constituents, to develop a policy addressing academic accommodation for disabled students, and to also make available to local senates resources and model policies that will assist local senates in that effort.
