Whereas, The Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC), a division of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), has adopted the new 2002 Accreditation Standards, which include insistence on the application of Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) at the course, program, and institutional level;

Whereas, The 2002 Standards offer a range of significant threats to areas of faculty primacy, and the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges has objected to the 2002 Standards in many resolutions;

Whereas, The 2002 Standards call for faculty to be evaluated according to their compliance with the demand for SLOs, for the inappropriate disclosure of information concerning faculty and student identities, and for the collection and aggregation of data of questionable validity for the purpose of institutional decision making; and

Whereas, There is a need in the field for direction in response to the new standards;
