This resolution is an ongoing activity.  The RwLS Committee and Executive Committee members provide local visits, other resources visits, and the President participated in Collegiality in Action about local issues and provide assistance where possible.

Whereas, Local senates face a range of problems involving shared governance, fiscal and legal challenges, and others;

Whereas, There exists a wide range of assistance to help local senates with such problems, from technical visits, to appeals, to the California Community College System Office;

Whereas, The circumstances and processes for enlisting such assistance vary and are not necessarily clear to local senates; and

Whereas, Current forms of assistance may not meet the needs of all local senates;

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges research and document the range of assistance available to local senates for problems in shared governance, fiscal and legal challenges, and others;

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges determine where the current needs of local senates are not being addressed by existing forms of assistance;

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges recommend what types of assistance need to be put into place to meet unfilled needs; and

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges share with local senates the range of assistance and the processes for requesting each type of assistance.MSC Disposition: Local Senates
