Summary
Reaffirm Resolution 10.02 F01 calling upon the Academic Senate to update titles of degrees and disciplines on the Disciplines List where appropriate; charge a standing committee with studying the flexibility of the process and the structure of the current Disciplines List of minimum qualifications, particularly exploring the logic of adding a third category; and report findings and recommendations at the Spring 2003 Plenary Session.
Status Report

The proposal to add a third category was adopted at the S08 Session (10.01) and will be presented as a recommendation to the Board of Governors.

Whereas, Resolution 10.02 F01 called upon the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges to update the titles of degrees listed in the Disciplines Lists of minimum qualifications to accommodate changing major titles and other considerations;

Whereas, Resolution 10.02 F01 also called upon the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges to review the disciplines not requiring a master's degree and update them to reflect workforce, business, technological, and other changes; and

Whereas, Rapid changes - technologically or otherwise - have created a need for added flexibility in addressing the disciplines lists of minimum qualifications;

Resolved, That the Academic Senate reaffirm Resolution 10.02 F01 calling upon the Academic Senate to update titles of degrees and disciplines on the Disciplines List where appropriate;

Resolved, That the Academic Senate charge a standing committee with studying the flexibility of the process and the structure of the current Disciplines List of minimum qualifications, particularly exploring the logic of adding a third category; and

Resolved, That the Academic Senate report its findings and recommendations at the Spring 2003 Plenary Session.
