The regulations have been changed.

Whereas, Temporary Title 5 distance education regulations have enabled careful, faculty-driven growth in distance education during the trial period since 1995;

Whereas, Strong academic integrity language, in contrast to national moves towards non-faculty instruction, remains crucial to the excellence and rigor of distance education courses and the resultant ability to articulate such courses for transfer; and

Whereas, Standard courses with curriculum committee approved course outlines, including distance education courses, do not belong in the independent study category;

Resolved, That the Academic Senate support the relocation of distance education language out of the independent study area;

Resolved, That the Academic Senate urge the continued inclusion of all academic integrity language in Title 5, including that currently contained in 55317,55352, 55372, 55374, 55376, 55378 and 55380; and

Resolved, That the Academic Senate support the proposed Title 5revisions in distance education language, subject to the inclusion of the above language.
