Status Report

Worked with Legislative Liaison in monitoring of CTE-related legislation. Consulted with Curriculum and Accreditation Committees on issues that affect CTE programs.

Whereas, Because today's jobs have become more complex and the need for workers to have higher levels of knowledge, skills and thinking abilities has increased; and

Whereas, Some people argue that students in some occupational certificate and degree programs do not need the same levels of knowledge and skills of students in other certificate and degree programs;

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges work with local senates and vocational programs to help students achieve the needed levels of competency for their educational and occupational goals; and

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges work with professional occupational organizations to oppose any push from individuals or groups to lower the educational expectations or standards for occupational programs. MSC Disposition: Local Senates
