Whereas federal legislation is seeking to place higher education and job training restrictions on legal immigrants via the Personal Responsibility Act, and

Whereas the fate of legal immigrants is linked with the future of our state and nation, and

Whereas legal immigrants would suffer from the creation of an underclass,

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges oppose the concepts in all federal and state legislation which would seek to exclude legal immigrants from receiving support for higher education and job training.
