Whereas diversity of staff is of primary importance to the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges, and
Whereas gender and cultural diversity are important factors in determining the direction of the Academic Senate, and
Whereas there are no provisions within the by-laws of the Academic Senate to guarantee input from underrepresented populations,
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges form an ad hoc committee to study the feasibility of providing the president of the Academic Senate the power to appoint two people from underrepresented groups to positions on the Academic Senate Executive Committee, and
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges explore other methods to strengthen the input to the Academic Senate from underrepresented populations.
