With the recent past work of the ASCCC in this area, and the August 2007 passage of Title 5 changes the issues in this resolution have been addressed.

Whereas, There is great inconsistency in the offerings of majors at the California community colleges;

Whereas, There is no clearly established definition that provides a clear distinction between the AA and AS degree;

Whereas, There is an ever-increasing effort by the UCs and the CSUs to direct the studies of transfer-bound community college students; and

Whereas, Many universities require little lower division work in the major prior to transfer, and the preparation required by the various transfer institutions varies;

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges explore how majors are established and used in the California community colleges. MSC Disposition: Local Senates
