Whereas faculty load directly affects the quality of a faculty member's performance, and
Whereas faculty load should not be viewed exclusively as an issue of working conditions, and
Whereas the professional responsibilities for classroom and non-classroom faculty have expanded substantially due to the new faculty role in hiring, evaluation, tenure review, curriculum review, and governance in general, and
Whereas the quality of the faculty's performance of these duties is affected by what the impact is on the faculty member's load,
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges direct the Executive Committee to develop recommendations for action at a future session on faculty load, including provisions for professional responsibilities outside the discipline, and
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges direct the Executive Committee to make an appropriate provision for obtaining the views of the faculty bargaining agents before bringing recommendations to the session.
