Whereas a clear intent of the 75:25 ratio provision of AB 1725 was to increase the contact between students and faculty by ensuring that faculty would be available to participate in the full range of campus activities by increasing the number of fill-time faculty to a reasonable ratio, and
Whereas the present methodology for computing this ratio is district based and not college based, and
Whereas this practice does not ensure that goals are realized equally among colleges in a multi-college district, and
Whereas this current accounting practice also does not provide any information about the variation in ratios among the divisions within the college, which may vary significantly,
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges urge the Board of Governors to seek a reporting of 75:25 ratios by colleges in multi-college districts, and
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges urge the Board of Governors to ensure that these reports include 75:25 ratio calculations for each division within that college, and
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges urge the Board of Governors to explore proposals for fiscal incentives which would encourage colleges and divisions to develop plans and set goals to improve their 75:25 ratios over time.
