The paper was published and distributed widely. Portions have been used in district presentations and the Leadership Institute. The Education Code Task Force has not changed governance provisions.
Whereas strengthening the role of academic senates is a key tenet of AB 1725, and
Whereas collegial consultation on academic and professional matters is an essential mechanism for academic senates to ensure appropriate participation of faculty in district and college governance, and
Whereas collegial consultation requires regular and diligent attention from local academic senates,
Resolved that the Academic Senate adopt the guidelines "Effective Participation in District and College Governance" and the process outlined in "Assistance to Assure Effective Participation in District and College Governance"
Resolved that the Academic Senate direct the Executive Committee to incorporate in the Education Code (currently under revision) appropriate parts of the document "Participating Effectively in District and College Governance."
