Whereas, California community colleges and local senates are working toward well thought out planning and decision-making processes;
Whereas, Sound practice along with the 2002 Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) Accreditation Standards 1.B. 6-7 require institutions to improve upon these planning and resource allocation processes using evidence to assess their "institutional effectiveness;" and
Whereas, These two standards specifically call for the "systematic review" of these processes, and then call for the assessment of these "evaluation mechanisms," which is leading to a diverse and often unnecessarily confusing plethora of institutional responses to these two standards;
Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges conduct research and develop information about those effective practices being used by colleges to assess institutional effectiveness as specified in the 2002 Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) Accreditation Standard I.B.6-7.
