Whereas the effectiveness of vocational education programs is closely tied to the needs of and changes in their related industries, and
Whereas the individuals most affected by and concerned about their programs are the teaching faculty in those vocational programs, and
Whereas the vocational teaching faculty have the most motivation to contribute and utilize ties to their program's related industries,
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges strongly recommend to local colleges that vocational education teaching faculty be given an opportunity to accept, on a rotating basis within each program, liaison duties with their related industries for the purpose of enhancing vocational education programs, updating skills and increasing community awareness, and
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges recommend to local boards that they provide adequate reassigned time for vocational faculty to fulfill these additional responsibilities.
