Whereas faculty derive their authority in collegial governance issues from AB 1725 which recognizes them as subject matter experts and thus any document prepared without their input will lack insight from the disciplines, and

Whereas the process utilized by the Chancellor's Office for the initial development of the Master Plan Planning Guide: Library and Learning Resources Program did not reflect the spirit of collegial governance as stated by Title 5, Section 53200-53203, and

Whereas the Academic Senate was consulted after the initial development of the Plan and has had inadequate time to study the document's impact,

Resolved that the Academic Senate recommend that the Board of Governors direct the Chancellor to work directly with the Executive Committee to ensure all Academic Senate concerns are addressed prior to action by the Board of Governors, and

Resolved that the Academic Senate recommend to the Board of Governors that they delay any action on the Library and Learning Resources Master Plan Planning Guide document until consultation process is completed.
