Whereas the amount of data the local senate presidents are required to review has significantly increased in recent years, and they need to have a clear understanding of their duties and responsibilities, and
Whereas the local senate presidents are asked to sign an increasing number of documents for the faculty, and
Whereas the local senate presidents need to be able to effectively maintain a sense of continuity in the transition of leadership,
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges direct the Executive Committee to write a document that provides guidelines of the duties and responsibilities of a local senate president, and
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges direct the Executive Committee to include in these guidelines examples of the sign-off responsibilities with explanations and worksheets that guide the local senate presidents in their decisions.
