Whereas, Matriculation programs have demonstrated their effectiveness in studies of retention and success over the past 10 years; and

Whereas, The Governor's 2002 - 2003 budget proposes a 38% (26.8 million) cut in funding;

Resolved, That the Academic Senate urge the Chancellor's Office and the Board of Governors to stand firm in their support of and commitment to matriculation programs and not reduce standards of the colleges and to continue to provide these critical services.
