Completed for 04-05 legislative year; a continued utterance during all discussions with legislators and their aides.

Whereas, The California Performance Review makes extensive reference to the vocational/career/workforce development function of the California community colleges;

Whereas, Recommendation ETV26 suggests that the California community colleges should "reinforce the priority of the economic and workforce development role of community colleges;"

Whereas, The California community colleges have multiple missions defined in Education Code 66010.1 through 66010.8, including degrees, transfer, basic skills, as well as vocational; and

Whereas, The cumulative effect of the California Performance Review recommendations places undue emphasis on only one of the important missions of the California community colleges;

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges reiterate the importance of the multiple missions of the California community colleges; and

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges oppose the undue emphasis by the California Performance Review on the vocational mission of the California community colleges to the exclusion of its other missions.
