Whereas the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges, in the late 1980s, supported the very effective Fund for Instructional Improvement funded Educational Leadership Colloquia workshops on shared governance, and

Whereas the success of the Educational Leadership Colloquia (ELC) was attributable, at least in part, to the attendance at the ELC of a team from each college, including faculty, students, trustees, administrators, and classified, and

Whereas a key issue facing California Community Colleges in the 1990s is the incorporation of multicultural perspectives in our curriculum, and

Whereas multicultural issues at California Community Colleges need creativity and contributions from all segments to meet student needs including student equity,

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges support the concept of, and seek funding for, a series of workshops, modeled on the Educational Leadership Colloquia (ELC), using teams consisting of faculty, administrators, trustees, students, and classified in order to explore all facets and possibilities of the multicultural curriculum.
