The Committee reviewed all ASCCC Occ Ed papers. This particular resolution calls to research new laws and issues; however, there is not much to research since laws and issues have not changed since the last CTE paper. The committee did review one paper in particular that made many good recommendations but provided no support for implementing those recommendations. The commitee attemped to pursue doing research that would possibly lead to the development of a followup paper but these efforts were not given any prioirty. The Committee produced a follow up resolution to focus this effort S11 21.01 Career Technical Education (CTE) -- Effective Practices.

Whereas, The Academic Senate adopted papers addressing occupational education funding and legislation are outdated;

Whereas, There is a national and state focus on occupational education issues and needs; and

Whereas, Academic Senate adopted papers are useful tools to educate faculty, administrators, community and state and federal leaders;

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges research new legislation, laws and funding issues that affect occupational programs in community colleges and develop a paper addressing these issues; and

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges review all of its adopted papers on occupational programs for needed updates and/or revisions. MSC Disposition: Local Senates
