Incorporated into talking points for Local Senates visits.

Whereas, The Academic Senate passed resolution 9.02 S05 recommending changing the minimum level in mathematics to the level of intermediate algebra;

Whereas, The Academic Senate passed resolution 9.03 F04 that encourages colleges to "provide adequate counseling, learning resources and support services to ensure that the new requirements do not become barriers to student success"; and

Whereas, Some students suffer from math anxiety, which is an obstacle to their success in mathematics courses;

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges encourage local faculty to consider offering a course or workshop in or other methods of overcoming math anxiety; and

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges collect and disseminate examples of workshops and courses that provide strategies for learning mathematics and strategies for overcoming math anxiety.MSC Disposition: Local Senates
