Whereas the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges has a longtime commitment to the hiring of more full-time faculty, and
Whereas the Governor vetoed AB 1353, which called for $15 million for new full-time faculty hires, and
Whereas Chancellor Nussbaum has announced that he is not supporting reintroducing AB 1353,
Resolved that the Academic Senate urge the Chancellor to reconsider and support a reintroduced AB 1353.
The Legislation was proposed under SB877and AB 1714 but never got out of committee. However, the Partnership for Excellence proposal funds may be used to fund full-time faculty hires. ASCCC continues to advocate for new full-time faculty hires.
