Status Report

The Executive Director continues to solicit faculty from all areas identified in the resolution at all Academic Senate functions. Language has been included in Senate mailings to request that Senate Presidents identify faculty from all diverse backgrounds when possible. The President continues to work with Committee Chairs to ensure that the Standing Committees and other committee appointments include faculty from various backgrounds. The Academic Senate has made great progress in this area.

Whereas the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges represents the perspectives and needs of all 108 community colleges in the state, and

Whereas the strength of proposed actions depend on canvassing and integrating a wide array of perspectives,

Resolved that all committees of the Academic Senate shall include, whenever possible, broad representation by
(1)geographic areas;
(2) disciplines;
(3) ethnic background and gender;
(4) sexual orientation;
(5) full- and part-time faculty;
(6) college and district; and
(7) persons with disabilities.
