Whereas, The Academic Senate for California Community Colleges has consistently advocated that colleges create and honor sound processes that incorporate concern for excellence, integrity and fairness;

Whereas, The Academic Senate for California Community Colleges should model in all its own processes these same principles of excellence, integrity and fairness; and

Whereas, The legitimacy and credibility of the Academic Senate as an academic body rest upon its commitment to these principles in all its affairs;


Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges work to ensure excellence, fairness and integrity in all its processes and that the Academic Senate review every two years, in consultation with local academic senates, the selection criteria and processes for Academic Senate nominees and awards;

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges clearly communicate to the local senates in the call for nominations these selection criteria and processes, as well as any changes or revisions to them at the beginning of the academic year; and

Resolved, That the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges ensure that the established selection criteria and processes are followed.

Status Report: 

An ASCCC awards booklet was created to inform local senates of the criteria for different awards. The booklet will be revised as awards are introduced, updated or reconfigured. Information about all the Senate's awards can be found on the web page. Review of ASCCC awards is mandated in S&P Committee charge.
