Whereas the proposed Title 5 regulations on academic standards were originally developed from recommendations of the Academic Senate in cooperation with the Chief Instructional Officers, and
Whereas the recommendations were further developed through the Task Force on Academic Quality, representing a wide range of constituencies from California Community Colleges, and
Whereas the Academic Senate believes that the regulations resulting from this extensive consultation will have a significant and beneficial effect on the curricula of the California Community Colleges, occasioning a comprehensive review of their curricula by the faculty, and
Whereas the implementation of these proposed Title 5 standards has been delayed by technical problems as perceived by the Office of Administrative Law and the Department of Finance,
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges assert its continuing support for the proposed Title 5 regulations and urge local senates and districts to move to implement these standards without further delay.
