With feedback from the Transfer Center Directors Association, the committee prepared a document for discussion and adoption at the Fall Session. The document, "Toward Increased Student Success: Transfer as an Institutional Commitment" was adopted, published and distributed to the field.
Whereas local senate presidents are often asked to sign off without sufficient background on reports relating to a plethora of transfer functions (for example, matriculation and transfer centers), and
Whereas collaboration and communication are essential among faculty working in areas like transfer, included as one of the eleven areas specified as appropriate for senate involvement under "student preparation and success," and
Whereas the Title 5 required Transfer Center Advisory Committee is not necessarily a senate committee,
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges urge local senates to take an active role in the Title 5 required Transfer Center Advisory Committee at their colleges, and
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges direct the Executive Committee to develop guidelines for use by local senates in creating senate transfer committees.
