Vocational Education Funding Split

Whereas AB 2224 designates the State Board of Education as the sole state agency to administer federal vocational education money, and

Whereas community colleges receive between 43-48% of these funds, and

Whereas AB 2224 in its current form does not require any consultation or joint agreement between the State Board of Education and the Board of Governors,

Resolved that the Academic Senate work with the Chancellor's Office to seek amendments to AB 2224 which would guarantee the community colleges an equal role in determining the distribution of federal vocational education funds as well as any other federal training or retraining money.
