Work through Workforce Development Workgroup to influence workforce development plans legislation.

Whereas the recommended "Private Industry Council structure" being proposed by the State Job Training Coordinating Council does not provide for individuals to choose their educational and training service provider, and

Whereas individuals who qualify for employment education and training coverage should have the right to choose their education and training service provider, and

Whereas individuals' freedom to choose their educational and training service provider may foster system improvement and effectiveness in order to remain competitive,

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges urge the Board of Governors to actively call on the State Job Training Coordinating Council, state legislators, and the governor to ensure Californians have the right to choose the education and training service provider in the state's workforce development and preparation system, and

Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges urge the Board of Governors to immediately act to support or pursue federal legislation which includes the right of individuals to choose their education and service providers.
