2013 Accreditation Institute

Event Dates

The Academic Senate for California Community Colleges is pleased to partner once again with the ACCJC to provide training for faculty, administrative leaders, CEOs, and local trustees at its Accreditation Institute.

In its Summer 2012 newsletter, the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) reminded us that "Institutional effectiveness and educational quality start with the administrators, staff and especially faculty, but depends upon the quality of the governing board. Excellent institutional performance requires well-defined roles and high performance from an institution's governing board." In other words, ensuring that a college meets the accreditation standards is a joint and collaborative effort that requires all campus constituencies to understand and play their designated roles.

The Academic Senate for California Community Colleges is pleased to partner once again with the ACCJC to provide training for faculty, administrative leaders, CEOs, and local trustees at its Accreditation Institute. This winter, the Accreditation Institute Meeting and Exceeding the Standards: The Evolution of Accreditation will be held at the Doubletree in San Jose on February 8-9, 2013. While the entire Institute is designed for the broad array of college leaders, the first day will offer a strand of sessions explicitly designed for CEOs and local trustees. The main purpose of the Accreditation Institute is to assist and support college leaders as they navigate the waters of writing their institution's self evaluation, follow up reports, substantive change reports, and other documents within the accreditation process.  Furthermore, the Institute will examine assessment, sanctions, and other issues and concerns as they pertain to accreditation and the California community colleges.  As always, there will be opportunities throughout the Institute to ask questions, create action plans for your campus, share strategies with colleagues from across the state, and develop a network of support. Registration is open to faculty, accreditation liaison officers, board members, and chief executive officers.

This is an effort both to be responsible toward the environment and to increase the quality and timeliness of the resources provided. Electronic materials will replace paper and will be accessible online before, during, and after the program. It is our hope that this will encourage you to join us in our goal to be as paper-lite as possible.

A program will be provided to each attendee upon arrival, however, conference and breakout materials will be available for download here. We encourage you to download the materials prior to arrival.
