Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges direct the Executive Committee to investigate ways to improve the accountability of local colleges in the use of faculty and staff development and staff diversity funds in order to comply with the legislative intent in AB 1725 creating these funds. M/S/U Disposition: Board of Governors, Chancellor's Office, Executive Committee, Local Senates, 4C/SD

Summary:
Request that the Board of Governors include in Title 5 the proviso that the annual accountability reports to the Chancellor's Office on the use of staff development and staff diversity funds include a signoff by the college's academic senate president, and investigate ways to improve the accountability of local colleges in the use of faculty and staff development and staff diversity funds in order to comply with the legislative intent in AB 1725 creating these funds.
Recommendation:
Probably need to rewrite this one to bring it into the 21st century. Might be able to tie it to EEO funds, but those funds are not solely for staff development.
Status Report:

There are currenlty no professional development funds provided by the state at this point in time. EEO funds can be used for professional development, but there is a recommendation that categorical EEO funds be "flexible" in the 2010-11 budget year, and EEO funds serve more purposes than only perfessional development.
