The Senate continues to support equitable funding for all districts. While this issue remains current, the President, rather than this committee, is the best advocate for this position. The committee requests that it be removed from its purview.

Whereas all students enrolled in California community colleges deserve local access to adequately funded programs, regardless of their geographic location, and

Whereas all students enrolled in California community colleges deserve local access to adequately funded, rigorous academic programs, regardless of their socio-economic background, and

Whereas the existing funding formula for California community colleges is highly inequitable, leading to disparity in educational opportunities in the lowest funded districts, and

Whereas the fair apportionment of state funding for California community colleges will improve the equity of educational opportunity for students across the state,

Resolved that the Academic Senate oppose the present funding formula that results in severe disparities in per FTES general apportionment, and

Resolved that the Academic Senate to work with the Chancellor's Office and the Governor's Office to revise or eliminate the current disparate funding formula in favor of one that moves us toward equitable apportionment to all community college districts within a reasonable timeframe, and

Resolved that the Academic Senate work to ensure that no district lose funding as a result of these changes.
