Whereas AB 1725, (Chapter 973, Statutes of 1988) provides for the possible use of advanced university graduate students as part-time temporary faculty in districts, and
Whereas AB 1725 (Chapter 973, Statutes of 1988) encourages districts to provide access to advanced graduate students interested in becoming teachers, and
Whereas SB 2298 authorizes beginning graduate students to teach part-time (if they are currently enrolled in an accredited graduate program, have completed one semester, have some teaching experience, and are assigned courses deemed by local faculty to be consistent with their graduate study),
Resolved that the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges recommend that local senates assign a faculty mentor to each graduate student hired.
