Leadership Regional MeetingLocation: Solano College |
These regional meetings will be free to a team of faculty members aspiring to become leaders. Colleges are asked to send a team of up to five current or potential faculty leaders who have an interest in making a meaningful contribution to the effectiveness of their college. In the interest of ensuring a diversity of discipline representation, each team is required to include at least one career technical education faculty member and the inclusion of student services faculty is strongly encouraged.

In our ongoing commitment to provide leadership development activities to faculty across the state, the newly formed Leadership Development Committee is pleased to announce a series of one-day regional workshops on the topic of college leadership. These workshops, in conjunction with our annual Vocational and Faculty Leadership Institutes, are intended to empower faculty by providing participants with the knowledge, skills, and insights needed to be effective advocates and problem-solvers about issues impacting the education of our students. |

Strong STEM Courses Promote Prosperity
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) programs are essential to California Community Colleges because students look to our Community Colleges for these programs; however, currently we are experiencing a lack of students majoring in STEM which puts our state and national economies at risk. Participants of this Institute will discuss what community colleges must do to increase success in STEM courses; how course work, including labs, can be taught effectively online; and how to engage student interest in STEM programs.
